Important Node Holder Update
Our Node holders play a pivotal role within our Proof of Authority (PoA) Blockchain ecosystem. Lite Nodes elect which Full Nodes will participate in consensus. Consensus is the process of validating transactions that come through on the blockchain, along with the creation of new blocks. Together, Lite Nodes and Full Nodes work to ensure the security and reliability of the decentralized network.
The process to onboard Full Nodes requires you to be proficient in the following:
- Command-line-driven Linux-based operating systems.
- Comfortable working with cloud-based service providers (AWS, Azure, Linode, DigitalOcean, GCP, etc.).
- Comfortable with working with firewall rules / NAT and other basic networking components.
- Experienced in working with docker images and controls.
Understandably, not all community members may have network engineering experience, as it is a specialized field that requires a certain level of technical expertise. However, a decentralized network needs a diverse group of participants with various skills and expertise to maintain its stability and security.
Currently, as it stands our blockchain developers are walking Node Holders through the process line by line, which is not a scalable solution. For this reason, we want to create a community-driven program to help expedite this onboarding process. We recognize certain community members have taken on this onboarding support role already, and we appreciate you and want to recognize your efforts for this leadership role within the community.
This is a call to action for the community. If you possess this technical knowledge and want to participate in our onboarding program, please get in touch with us. Participants of this Leadership Onboarding Program will receive a designated role within Discord and access to a private support channel to communicate with the Vulcan Team.
Node Schedule
From next week, there will be a weekly 90-minute block scheduled with the developers to facilitate the Full Node onboarding to Testnet. Your server must be up and running for you to gain access to this call. If you need assistance setting up your server, this is where we want to encourage the community to participate in our Leadership Onboarding Program.
Scaling The Onboarding Process
Purchasing a node was a financial investment that you would like to participate in as quickly as possible. For this reason, we would like to scale the onboarding process during our Testnet Phase. If you own a Full Node, please begin the process of setting up your server. Once this is done, you can participate in the weekly call for onboarding. Please Note: if you own a Lite Node or Full Node, the $VUL you have locked against your node will earn rebases, but only active nodes will be eligible to receive consensus rewards.
Vulcan Rebrand
To reset the network and onboard the new Vulcan Blockchain branding, we will request that all node holders shut down their nodes at a communicated time. There will be a delay of up to 15 days while the software is upgraded. Once the upgrade is complete, we will ask node holders to turn their nodes back on and new software. After the upgrades are installed, we will ask node holders to retest the network to ensure it functions correctly.
Future Communication
To stay informed about the latest developments for node holders, it is recommended to join the Vulcan Blockchain Discord community and confirm that you are a node holder. This will allow you to access private areas where you can connect with other node holders and discuss important issues and updates. It is essential to stay up to date with the latest news and developments in the network to ensure that you can effectively fulfill your responsibilities as a node holder and contribute to the security and integrity of the Vulcan blockchain.
